Announced on 1st April 2010 Graham Carr, Peel Forest Estate is the winner of:
2010 NZ Farm Environment Award Trust Livestock Award
The judges made the following comments:
- Modern breeding programme & broad genetic source a combination that has resulted in very high quality stock.
- Animal welfare & health high priority: non slip matting in deer shed, excellent laneways ensure efficient stock movement.
- Recorded world class genetics: working with scientific community to breed Johnes resilient deer.
- Excellent shade & shelter creating a natural environment for deer: water ways and wet areas protected.
